This fall, we were pleased to launch Cluj Tech Society, two days of open stage talks, interactive presentations, workshops and sessions dedicated to entrepreneurs, employers and candidates with potential, while also having a special area for gamers and coders. The event took place at BT Arena, on 15th and 16th of November and a number of 3500 tech-savvy people attended.
The Cluj Tech Society Concept
Our aim was to create a special, one-of-a-kind atmosphere, integrated in an interactive space, oriented towards technological evolution.
We did this with the help of special decorations and lights placed in certain key points, highlighting the most interesting areas at the event.
Edu Tech was the main theme and focus for the autumn 2019 edition, everything that took place during the two-days of event having something to do with this theme.
The main conference brought on stage international speakers, such as: Crux Connection, behavioural profiler and hostage negotiator FBI, Eden Lazaness, head of innovation la King’s College, Doru Șupeală, author MarkeThink and Diana Gergeanu, application architect and mentor IBM România.
We also had two panel sessions dedicated to the EduTech theme, both of them bringing together significant ideas around the subject. Among speakers in the panel sessions were Urania Cremene, parenting specialist, Maria Predoiu, co-founder and CEO Qriser, as well as Simona Motogna, proDean at Mathematics and Informatics College UBB.
At Cluj Tech Society we also organised a “EduHack” hackathon, a 24 hours coding, designing and prototyping event that brought together great minds from fields such as IT, Education, Marketing and Business, challenging them to join their forces towards developing innovative solutions designed for problems from the educational field.
Out of 40 teams, we selected 8 finalists that worked for 24 hours straight in order to present ideas meant to revolutionise the educational system, using technology. The winning project was BWay, and was awarded a free month at Cluj Hub co-working space, free mentorship from Digital Incubator and Activize, as well as gadgets from PC Coolers.
Digital Crusade, the esports tournament platform launched by Târgul de Cariere in 2018, brought 5 esports competitions at Cluj Tech Society: League of Legends 5v5, Counter Strike: Global Offensive 5v5, Teamfight Tactics, FIFA20 and Hearthstone, as well as 600 individual players or teams. Prizes offered to the winning teams were over 2500 euros.
A total of 600 individual players and over 1000 people from the audience took part in the esports tournaments at Cluj Tech Society, for 2020 aiming at engaging even more young people passionate about this ever-growing field.
Overall, Cluj Tech Society was the perfect environment for direct interaction between companies, speakers, candidates and people passionate about technology and gaming, each idea becoming a source of inspiration for new projects and new opportunities that contribute to the development of the IT community in Romania.
